Costa Rica was orange. And it was blue.
Blue like the walls of my upstairs bedroom in my parents' home.
They say that staring at the color blue helps relax you and prepare you for rest, so it makes a good choice for any place you seek for respite. I thought about those gray-blue walls as I watched the waves chase each other and tumble onto the shoreline. I thought about how the dusty-blue of the ocean was infinitely better than the paint I chose for my room at the end of the hall. And the longer I gazed out on the water as my feet pressed into warm sand, the more I was drawn into a quiet calm.
Costa Rica was blue because it was peace. Blue because it signified rest.
