the light.

Mexico City lit up the Zocalo this weekend.

The festival of lights was part of a cultural initiative to enrich artistic creation. A self-guided tour directed you through the city's historical center alongside thousands of other eager participants into museums, through parks, and down streets buzzing with excitement and ablaze with a full spectrum of lights.

We ended the tour with "Memento Mori", spelled out in candles, the words serving as a reminder of the inevitability of death.

Despite the lights around me, I couldn't help but feel the darkness that the display emitted with a lack of hope from the "Light of the World" (John 9:5).

And I will lead the blind
in a way that they do not know,
in paths that they have not known
I will guide them.
I will turn the darkness before them into light,
the rough places into level ground.
These are the things I do,
and I do not forsake them.
-Isaiah 42:16

Lord, bring your light to Mexico City.
