still flowing.

There've been an abundance of "NO WAY" moments in the past couple weeks. And yes, definitely in a good way. It seems that every time I sit down to dutifully crunch numbers, calculate percentages, and determine where I stand with ministry support, I'm surprised and overwhelmed with where I stand. Yes, still in a good way. When it feels mathematically impossible and when the first thing that comes to my mind is "no way!", the Lord reminds me that HE is the One making my way to Mexico. 

In the past week, He has brought to mind the story of the widow in 2 Kings 4. This woman's husband had just died and the creditor was banging on her door, demanding that her two sons be taken as slaves to pay her debts. Enter the prophet Elisha, who finds that the only thing she has left in her house is a lone vessel of oil. He has her go out into her neighborhood and borrow jars and vessels from her friends and they begin to do something very curious. Out of her own vessel of oil, the widow begins pouring oil into all the jars she had collected. A steady flow of oil is poured out into the first jar, the next, and the next..

When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. -2 Kings 4:6

Not until the very last drop was needed to fill all the jars, did the oil stop flowing! Inarguably, God had done a miracle, making a way for the widow and her sons not only to be alleviated of debt, but because of the abundance of the oil, to live off the profits of what remained. 

God met the widow where she was at, with what she had and using those she knew, and provided above and beyond her need. 

These truths refreshed my heart and proved so practical in the support raising process! As the Lord has brought me right near 75%, it is with confidence and complete trust that I look to the weeks and months ahead, rejoicing in Ephesians 3:20-21:

    Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Until the last penny comes in for God's Kingdom work, that very last drop of oil, I know that His provision won't stop flowing.
